well #20

September 20, 2019 - Blessing of the well

Located at the home of Zainabu in a small, but mighty village. Christa and Heather were ecstatic to attend the blessing of this well. Given by one of our generous donors and dear friend’s of Christa, this well is dedicated to the donor’s parents - the late Tochterman’s.

We were able to share messages of giving to others, how we measure success by the seeds we plant, not the harvest we reap...How God orchestrated so many things to come together to bring this well to this community!

We heard the story of Zainabu, one of the children in our sponsorship program, and how her mama welcomed her when she was an abandoned 2 year old...who raised her with three other children (2 sisters and a brother). We heard testimony from several neighbors that said they did not know until recently that Zainabu was adopted some 16 years ago since she is treated as no different than any of her siblings and even looks similar to them! Zainabu’s mama was in search of a job for many months and was just named Village Administrator in March. She is the Assistant Chief to her village!

The only other well in walking distance is at Ebulechia School, across the street quite a way. Soon after this well was completed, the well at Ebulechia broke. It has since been fixed, but the students at the school were able to use this well in the meantime!

During the blessing of the well, we gave out goodies to the children! Shoes, jump ropes, clothes, stuffies, stickers and cars! Then we played a Kenyan version of an Easter Egg Hunt and they got to find smalls toys, candies and stickers!

They loved it! So did we!
