DECEMBER, 2022 CHRISTMAS PARTY DISTRIBUTION
Christmas came early to our brothers and sisters in Kenya and once again everything was done to tradition just like the pre pandemic years. Every child received new clothes, shoes as well as extra food and toiletries supplies. Among other special gifts were a cow, goat and chicken for select families.
To top it all off, everyone was treated to an end year feast with distinguished Kenyan delicacies served including masala rice, chapatti, deep fried chicken, corn bread and so much more. Further the congregation was filled with joy of getting together in celebration of the end of an eventful yet successful year.
Christmas means so much to many children and adults alike across the globe and as witnessed, Santa managed once again to put a smile on every child's face courtesy of your generous thoughtful giving. It is a season of neighborliness and indeed you all set the bar so high. Happy Christmas!

We wish them all the best in their pursuit of education.
CHRISTMAS 2021 PORTRAITS IN NEW CLOTHES
Joy and abundance filled the air this Christmas season at our resource center in Kenya as Give Amore spread love through gifts, teaching and celebration of the eminent birth of our savior Jesus Christ. Our children had the time of their life, some indulging in their favorite meals and beverages, something that isn’t as common in their homes and daily routines. Topping the list of gifts this time and every other year was new clothes for all our sponsored children, a tradition so popular in the African culture, as well as extra food and toiletries.

2021 JANUARY BACK TO SCHOOL GIFTS
With the dawn of the New Year, it is back to school for all learners in Kenya and despite the raging pandemic world over, the government has carefully crafted a return to school plan to help protect the students against Covid 19 both while at home and school.
Our sponsored children are excited to resume learning after months of staying home due to the global pandemic that led to all schools closing indefinitely. Also given that Kenya has no homeschooling plan in its education system, there is no way she could have kept up with her syllabus.
Armed with books, stationery, full school uniform, and more, students are ecstatic and eager to go back to school and see their peers.

Due to Corona virus related restrictions, our usual congregation at the Give Amore center was replaced with our team transporting supplies to the homes of the beneficiaries.
In addition to the food and toiletries we typically issue, this time there was an augmentation of hand washing stations, extra food and soap to supplement their provisions during these lean moments and help curb the spread of the virus in case of an outbreak in the remote rural areas.

Mama Ruth received her new walker today. We hope this makes getting around much easier for her!
september 24, 2019
Christa and Heather, along with the entire Give Amore team visited Noel’s grandma - Mama Ruth - at home today. She is currently caring for 7 children. Frankline, who recently joined our sponsorship program, is staying at the home of Mercy. Two of Mama Ruth’s children are still living including Noels father and one other daughter. We learned that neither of her children help with the 7 grandchildren she cares for. We found her getting around with a very heavy homemade wooden walker and agreed that something better could be used. The team will order a light-weight walker for her as soon as possible!
We also learned that Mama Ruth’s original hip surgery did not work properly. After speaking to another surgeon, we agreed that any more surgeries would be more invasive than helpful at her age and because of the length of time since her accident. We will provide Mama Ruth with pain management medication like Ibuprofen to help her have the best quality of life possible after enduring so much.
Mama Ruth is our HERO and we are in awe of all she selflessly does for her family.

Mama Ruth was taken back to St. Mary's hospital for check up. The fixed metals in the hip were found dislocated and she has to redo a surgery again to fix the leg. We booked the surgery and we are waiting on the Doc to give us the date and cost.
UPDATE MARCH 16, 2018
Mama Ruth has not yet healed from the previous surgery in October 2018. Even though she is improving slowly, she is not yet strong. She still feel pain in her bones, but not like before. She was scheduled for a check up on Monday March 18 for an X-RAY. Generally, her family is going on well though with some bottlenecks because it's also one of the families that depend on Give Amore for food supply.

OCTOBER 10, 2018
Noel and cousin Ben’s caregiver, their grandmother - Mama Ruth - was able to have the first of two much needed surgeries. The first was to fix a broken/infected leg that was broken a few years ago and never set correctly. She still needs to have one on her arm.
She is the ONLY caregiver for her 7 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. The older children are out of school to care for the younger children as she's been in the hospital and will continue to be in the hospital for quite some time.
Ruth is elderly. Her home is falling apart. The family lives off of the food provisions given to them because two of her grandchildren are in our sponsorship program.
This woman has sacrificed everything to care for her family and has received the short end of the stick in life, not just living in abject poverty but being involved in an accident years ago that killed her sister and severely injured her and her injuries were never treated.
These are the children she cares for:
Ruben Amuko - 18 years old. He stopped learning in grade 6. His father passed away several years ago. He wishes to do any course in a polytechnic for instance motor vehicle mechanics, driving, carpentry or masonry. He got out of school because of fee arrears and eye problems.
Francisca Osimbo - 17 years. She left school about 6 years ago, she was in grade 5 at Ebuchinga primary school. She would like to do sewing if given an opportunity.
Noel Luchiko - 14 years. She is in grade 7 at Conerstone Academy
Ben Amuko - 13 years. He is in grade 7 with Noel at Conerstone Academy.
Prevo kamatia - 10 years. She is in grade 2 at Ebuchinga primary school.
Shirleen Amunga - 5 years. She is in pre-school at Conerstone Academy.
Princes Masitsa - 8 years. She is in grade 3 at Conerstone Academy.
Frankline Amukolole - 7 years. He stopped schooling mid this year in pre-school at Conerstone Academy. He was sent home for fees and his granny could not afford the little amount requested by the school and therefore he was forced to stay at home.
Raisy Ambira - 3 years. She is not yet in school.
september 26, 2018 school visit
We visited Paloma, Asman, Noel, Ben, Merceline, Yvonne at Conerstone Academy. Noel is doing good, healthy and happy. She is in grade 7 and has began dropping in academics. Her teacher was advising that we make arrangements for her to board in school for her to do well. He said that she may lack someone to help her with her studies at home.

2017 update
Noel is in the 6th grade for the 2017 school year at Cornerstone Primary School. Noel and her cousin Ben are raised by their grandmother, Ruth. When they joined our program (formerly TGD), their grandmother was brewing alcohol in their home to sell because it was her only way to provide for them. The alcohol was not only dangerous to make, but the fumes were making the children sick and long term exposure to the fumes would have lifelong effects.
Thanks to our sponsorship program, Ruth no longer has to brew beer and is now a part of the co-op program that some of our guardians have put together to support each other and their farming/agriculture needs. Noel is safe, healthy and doing great in school. She’s thankful for the opportunity to stay in school through her sponsors.
Noel is pictured in November with 2 of her cousins.

2015 update
Noel is fun loving when with her friends. Her smartness during play brings out a girl innovative and talented.
At eleven years old, Noel is in fourth grade and her favorite and least favorite subjects are Swahili and English in that order. She however looks forward to upping a good attitude towards English as a subject.
“I love playing throw balls and skipping ropes too.” She admits. She most of times goes to school on an empty stomach and lacks skin oil and soap. However, Miss Luchiko is thankful for the sufficient school materials she has and the already paid school fees. She hopes to be a teacher when she comes of age.
